Today we made leprechaun pictures for St Patricks Day. We used pictures of our own faces. Then we made a green hat with shamrocks on it. We also put orange hair and beards on them. They look really funny. We also learned the story of St Patrick of did some anagrams of words associated with St Patricks Day. Lots of us are going to different parades in the towns near Inagh. We cant wait. HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY!

Pancakes.... YUMMY!

Today we made some pancakes in our classroom. We mixed up flour, eggs and milk together in a bowl with a whisk. Then we cooked them in a frying pan. We all got to taste them. We got to pick our own toppings. We had lemons, sugar and honey. They turned out great. YUMMY.

The Children of Lir

We are learning about the 'Children of Lir' in History. It is an Irish Legend. We read four different versions of the story and compared them to each other. Then we made a huge storybord with all the information we had learned. We also wrote our own version of the story and made a cartoon of the legend. It is hanging in the school outside our classroom.

World Book Day

Today is World Book Day. We brought in our favourite books from home and told the class about them. Fifth and Sixth class came over to our room to read stories with us. We talked about being an author and an illustrator and about what blurbs are. We looked at lots of books in our library and we all got a book token that we can take to a bookshop and put towards a new book for ourselves. Our only homework tonight is to read a book.

Confession

Second class are getting their first confession soon so we are preparing for it in school at the moment. We made two display bords for the church. Miss Blackwells second class came over to help us. One is called 'My Shepherd is the Lord' and the other one is called 'I'm sorry'. You will be able to see them in the church at the first confession.

Christmas Art

We are making stained glass crib picture that we can hang up at home. It is really colourful. We are also making a wise man picture with marbelling inks behind him. We put the inks in a big tray and dipped our sheets into it. The patterns are amazing. We are painting a wise man on black in the front and we will frame it with coloured card.
We started making reindeer picture frames from old jigsaws. We will post a picture of them when we are finished.

Christmas Student of the month.

Today we performed Jingle Bells and Santa Claus is coming to town as Gaeilge at the Student of the Month. We all wore Santa hats and had great fun singing the songs. The whole school gave us a big cheer!!
